Excel to PowerPoint

So you have an Excel spreadsheet with milestones and dates. Perhaps you exported the information from an MS Project Gantt chart. Regardless of the source, how do you convert that spreadsheet to PowerPoint and furthermore, how do you automatically re-generate that presentation next week when dates change or new tasking is added? Let’s get started with a tool I wrote in Visual Basic.

This video shows the process of starting with an Excel spreadsheet with dates, categories, owners and statuses. The following occurs:

  • A Powerpoint milestones chart, which is chronologically aligned, is generated.

  • The ability to change the font size and the spacing between the swim lanes is demonstrated.

  • Finally the video shows how the user can move and manipulate individual milestones, without disturbing the dates, which are anchored.
